The Barwon Estuary is an important waterway for environmental and social values. A Citizen Science project is entering its second Stage, and we are reaching out to organisations and community members with a connection to this high value waterway, and its environmental health, who would like to be involved.
This project will include the design and delivery of engagement and monitoring activities with local community members to investigate water quality within the Barwon estuary. The monitoring program will collect data on the quality of water in the estuary in the proximity of stormwater outfalls. A variety of parameters will be regularly measured including enterococci levels, ammonia and general observations of the appearance and odour of the water, and will address concerns about the impact of water outfall and public health for estuary users.
